  • Veterinary EMS students

We are currently accepting applications for EMS placements at Riversmeet– here’s some more information about what a placement might look like for you at our practice.

EMS student experience

We prefer to take on those from the third year onwards so they can get the best experience, using the knowledge they have gained from the previous two years.

Opportunities available for EMS students and working hours

We are a busy small animal practice seeing primary care and some referrals surgeries - we perform lap spays daily and orthopaedic procedures such as TPLOs. We see ophthalmology cases, carry out in house chemotherapy and see a few exotics too!

At Riversmeet in Tamworth, there are ophthalmology certificate holders and vets working towards surgery, internal medicine, and imaging certificates. We have a great team of experienced vets and nurses and are a nurse training practice.

Students are based at our Tamworth site from 8:30am-5pm on weekdays and are welcome to stay until the end of the day at 7pm. You are not expected to attend on weekends.

What we expect from our EMS students and what they can expect in return

We can tailor placements down to individuals, generally getting them involved in all areas of practice, both consulting and in theatre.

Travel and accommodation

We are based in the town centre so easily accessible by public transport. Tamworth railway station is a 15-minute walk or bus ride away.

Students will be responsible for their own travel arrangements to our Tamworth site, as there is no staff parking available. If you are travelling by car, there are pay and display facilities located close to the practice. The nearest one is Moat House Car Park.
